cabin I lived in Fairbanks for five years, most of the time in this cabin in Goldstream Valley.

40below On winter days, it can get very cold in Fairbanks. At 40 below, breathing hurts and being outside is no fun.
carplugins The cars like it even less, and to make them cooperative, they have to be warmed up in the parking lots.
parka But people, especially the natives, have learned to deal quite well with the cold.
vaya The long winter nights draw people into cozy log cabins to play and listen to good music.
goldstream Despite the cold, the winter in Fairbanks has its qualities: Wonderful ski trails started right at my cabin door!
skijor Skijoring is another fun activity.
icefishing Icefishing can be quite rewarding. We grilled the fish -mostly trout- right there on the lake.
yukon_quest The Yukon Quest sled dog race is a big annual event and starts or ends in downtown Fairbanks.
moose Wildlife is abundant. Moose live in the backyard.
porcupine A porcupine walks by.
caribou A caribou hides behind fall colored tundra.
bear Bears usually stay out of town.
akrange The Alaska Range as seen from the Fairbanks hills.
